Royal Pine: Music

Black Star Cowboy

(Royal Pine)

I saw a little girl, about 5 years old, in a red cowboy hat with a black star on it.
He rode into town.
Throwing his look all around.
Six-gun by his side
Taking us all for a nice long ride.

Tougher than petrified wood.
His face bore the traces of the storms he withstood.
His best friend an old gray stallion, silent, loyal, steady companion.

I was looking, couldn't see his horse.
couldn't see his eyes through the remorse.
Couldn't see his eyes for the tumbleweed.
It's so hard to need.
It's so hard to grieve.
It's harder to believe.

Silence entered the room
Like a full moon 'fore the monsoon
As he entered the room
Folks they stayed inside
quietly awaiting the ebb of the tide

The dogs did cry and the coyotes whined.
His sombrero smile and his arrowed spine.
Ladies blushed and grown men wept.
They never knew the cards he kept.

I was looking couldn't see his eyes.
No emotion, no devotion, only ghastly guise.
Babes slept not a wink, for fright.
He blew through the town like a chilly night.

Black star cowboy.
Last seen boarding a Philly barge.
Legend claims he's still at large.
Black star cowboy.
